Center for Mindfulness and Nonduality at JLBG

Welcome to the study and application of the perennial wisdom teachings at the Center for Mindfulness and Nonduality at Juniper Level Botanic Garden. These teachings are more recently known as a nondual philosophy and perception of life.

Juniper Level Botanic Garden offers a unique setting and quiet refuge for individuals, inquiry groups, classes, and retreats to simply notice and behold the impersonal nature of aware presence.  At the Center, we call upon many paradoxical, yet simple, tools to loosen the grip of knowing.  A few of our tools include awareness and presence, open-hearted meditative inquiry, an attitude of not-knowing, silence, walking meditations, and community. We welcome what is appearing regardless of the labels the thinking and judging mind applies to appearances.

Established by mindfulness and meditation teacher Anita Avent in 2013, the Center offers occasional retreats and classes facilitated by Anita with guest speakers including Paul Hedderman, Paul Constant, Martin Wells, Lynden Harris, Jan Frazier, Bob Cergol, Art Ticknor, Jenny Clarke and Doug White. Anita has taught the benefits and techniques of meditation since 1992 and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) techniques since 2005.

A Christian pilgrim for more than 45 years, Anita experienced a radical shift of perception and a complete falling away of the illusory personal identity in 2011 revealing what had always been the case - the timeless, indivisible, and infinite impersonal awareness shining brightly as the appearance of Anita. After living several years in seclusion, she now shares her unfiltered insights and perceptions with those asking deeper philosophical questions about identity and the perception of reality.
